Hello! My name is Deanna- a landscape gardener based in Burlington, Ontario. I am going to start by saying I LOVE MY JOB! When I am in a garden, I am in my ‘happy place’ and I am so grateful that I make a living doing what I love.

My journey in the horticultural industry started over 15 years ago- a time when I was also on my ‘academic journey’ of completing a B.Sc. in Environmental Biology and a Masters in Forest Conservation (MFC). Today, as a landscape gardener, I have two objectives that I need to meet on a daily basis: keep my gardens healthy and keep my gardens looking beautiful. I achieve this by keeping ecological principals at the foundation of all that I do and paying attention to the visual details from there. This is my approach and I am proud to say that it has made my company award-winning in the area of non-turf ornamental garden maintenance!

In addition to caring for beautiful gardens, I also provide horticultural consulting to other landscaping businesses and homeowners- from planting plans to pruning advice to plant inventories and care advice. I love helping people create, care for, and enjoy the garden spaces around them!

A little bit about GROW…

GROW is a garden maintenance blog that is meant to act as your companion throughout the growing season; a ‘what should I be doing now’ kind of resource. I will walk you through the progression of the growing season as seen through the eyes of the properties that I tend. I will outline the tasks that I complete, as well as provide tips and tricks that are easy for you to use in your own outdoor space to help you grow a healthy garden that looks spectacular!
